SO...if you read my last journal post all the way thru, you'll have read that I'm a tattoo artist now. Pursuing a career as a tattoo artist has been something I've wanted to do since I was a teenager. I almost had an apprenticeship when I was 19 actually but that fell thru when I decided to pursue a professional career as a traditional artist, which is what I did for the past, almost, 10yrs. I'm glad I did that though cause I was able to develop my artwork and style into what it's become today and I am a much better artist now. Anyway at 28yrs old now, I decided it was time to pursue my other dream. With the push and support of my dear friend, Alex Polinsky, who all but kicked my ass out of the door (believe me, if we were in the same state he probably would have done just that) I went and pursued an apprenticeship...and got one. Illest Ink in Pawtucket, RI...Tim, saw my portfolio and immediately took me in. There In early November 2017 I started working and learning and the quick learner I am, I was licensed by February 2018. Almost a year later, I'm in a new shop now called Ink Therapy, my boss is still Tim though haha
While it is bittersweet to have left my first shop, I am however, still with most of my Illest Ink crew here at Ink Therapy...Tim, Chris and Kenny. We are a team after all and teams stick together. So, it's not that much of a change. I'll always appreciate the first shop, for being my first shop, starting my career there, the people I've met. But it was time to close that chapter and start a new one with some pretty awesome people and I look forward to my future with Ink Therapy.
I fully enjoy tattooing and I can't believe I didn't pursue this sooner...!!!
*****I would post some photos of my tattoo work but I don't think you can in journal entries? and if you can? Well then I don't know how haha so you'll have to follow me on instagram at mystickristin_tattoos
Now don't worry, I am still painting and creating my own personal artwork, nothing and no one could ever stop me from doing that. As a full time tattoo artist it will be that my painting is slower than it was in the past. On average I was painting 2 artworks a month or so...now it will be more like one painting a month....BUT I'm still painting, still selling my originals, still selling prints. I'm just producing artwork slower than before.
SO yeah...I'm a tattoo artist
